NYSSO is excited to announce their all new point system which
enables teams to qualify for our National Tournament. NYSSO will
also be awarding paid berths for grades 3 through 7. Every team
who participates in our tournaments will be awarded points based
on how they finish the tournament. Multiple tournaments this
year will be National Qualifiers. The other tournaments will
earn you points which will help qualify you to earn a paid
berth. The team with the most total points from all combined
tournaments in each class (3rd-7th) will
receive a paid berth. In cases where there is a tie, we will
have a tie breaker which is described below. If there is still a
tie then we will split the monies amongst the teams.
Based on the number of teams participating in these National
Qualifiers will depend on the number of berths that will be
handed out. In cases where teams have already received a berth
at a previous tournament but qualify for another berth will not
be allowed to receive two. It only takes one berth to advance to
our National Tournament. When this happens all berths will be
passed down to the next qualifying team.
All teams will receive a certificate of achievement
announcing their berth and qualifying them for our National
Tournament. This certificate will be given to the coach during
the awards ceremony. Each team has 72 hours following the
tournament to accept the berth for the tournament. The
acceptance of this berth can initially be made through a verbal
or written agreement. However, in order to hold your spot we
must receive a check for the full amount within 120 hours
following the tournament. If NYSSO doesn’t receive payment we
are assuming the berth has been passed on and therefore we will
pass the berth on to another team based on the finish of the
tournament in which this berth was received. NYSSO suggests that
a conversation amongst the coaching staff, sponsors and parents
and players take place before the football season that revolves
around goals for the team. This is a great reward for all kids
and they always have a lot of fun at these events. Planning
these events allows your team to get sponsor money and or
fundraise to help cover the cost. NYSSO does help teams with
fundraising, so if this is an interest for regular season play
and or tournament play we will provide a free consultation and
offer several programs in which your team could profit from.
Please review fundraising on our web site.
Our web site lists all the tournaments and shows which
tournaments are National Qualifying Tournaments. All teams will
receive points at all NYSSO Tournaments. The difference is that
our National Tournament Qualifiers allows you to earn a berth to
our National Tournament. The other tournaments allow you to earn
points which help your overall point total which enables you to
receive a paid berth. This berth will be awarded to whoever has
the most points following our Midwest State Championship. Teams who
have a berth through one of our National Tournaments will not be
awarded another berth. Therefore the berth gets passed down to
the next who doesn’t already have a berth. Only teams who have
earned a National Berth will be allowed to participate in our
National Tournament.
